An ISP proxy sits between the other two main proxy types. The address is announced by a consumer carrier's network, so an ASN lookup names an internet provider rather than a hosting company. The machine behind it runs in a data centre, so it has server-grade speed and uptime, and the address does not change while you hold it.

Why buyers choose it

  • Over datacenter proxies: sites that distrust hosting networks are less quick to challenge carrier-owned addresses.
  • Over residential proxies: you get one stable address instead of a rotating pool, which is what logins, account work and partner allowlists need.

The trade is price: ISP IPs cost more per address than datacenter ones, and they are sold per IP rather than per gigabyte.

Check what you bought

Look up the exit's network. For an ISP proxy the org field should name a carrier, not a cloud or hosting company:

curl -s -x http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@HOST:PORT https://ipinfo.io/json

Common confusion

"Static residential" is the marketing name for the same thing, and it misleads a little: these are not devices in people's homes. The carrier registration is real; the hardware is a server. That is also why an ISP proxy is fast and steady in a way consumer connections are not.

ISP IPs are sold from one address at $3.20/IP a month, chosen by country, region, city and carrier, with the carrier shown by name. Each IP is its own endpoint. See ISP proxies; what is an ISP proxy is the full explainer and the ISP price comparison sets vendors side by side.
