Octo Browser is an antidetect browser: each profile carries its own fingerprint, cookies and connection, so accounts you run stay separate. Octo Browser proxy setup with a ProxyHive IP: in the profile's Proxy / VPN field, add a new proxy, paste socks5://HOST:PORT:USERNAME:PASSWORD into Enter IP or domain, click Check proxy and wait for the green "Available", tick Save to the Proxy Manager with a name, and save the profile. Start it and https://api.ipify.org shows the IP you bought.

What this is for

This setup is for your own accounts: several ad accounts, shops or client accounts, each needing a stable identity. Our allowed-use policy permits several accounts where the platform itself allows them. Social platform automation is allowed for accounts you own and for public data collection; mass account creation and engagement farming are not. Creating accounts to abuse promotions or referral schemes, and bulk unsolicited messaging, are not allowed at all. This is not legal advice; read the policy and the platform's terms. Before you start

  1. Buy one static IP per profile and open the order in the dashboard at https://app.proxyhive.io. ISP proxies fit best: static addresses on a carrier you pick by name, from $3.20/IP for one IP, with country, region, city and carrier chosen at checkout.
  2. Copy HOST, PORT, USERNAME and PASSWORD for each IP. The order lists HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 ports separately.
  3. Use the SOCKS5 port. Octo's docs recommend SOCKS5 or SSH over plain HTTP, and every ProxyHive IP has a SOCKS5 port. HTTP vs SOCKS5 proxies explains the difference.

Octo Browser proxy setup for one profile

  1. Click Create Profile (not Quick Profile, which starts with a direct connection).
  2. In Proxy / VPN, which reads "Set proxy / VPN" until you change it, choose to add a new proxy.
  3. Paste the line into Enter IP or domain. Put the protocol in front so Octo does not have to guess:
socks5://HOST:PORT:USERNAME:PASSWORD

Octo splits it into host, port, login and password. It also reads login:password@host:port and the other orders, with or without a protocol prefix.

  1. Click Check proxy. A green "Available" with a country flag and code means it works; a red "Unavailable" means it does not. A UDP icon appears if the proxy carries UDP.
  2. Tick Save to the Proxy Manager and give the IP a name, such as the account it belongs to.
  3. Save the profile.

From the profile list you can also click Direct on a profile and choose Set a new proxy/VPN.

Leave location and WebRTC on automatic

When a profile starts, Octo checks its external IP and sets Languages, Timezone and Geolocation to match it. WebRTC defaults to Based on IP, which swaps in the proxy's external IP; Disable UDP is the stricter alternative. Leave DNS empty so lookups go through the proxy. Octo advises against setting languages, timezone or geolocation to the real value.

Verify the exit IP

  1. Select the profile and click Start.
  2. Visit https://api.ipify.org?format=json in its window.
  3. The ip value should be the address on your order, and different for each profile.

Octo's own FAQ suggests testing a proxy from a terminal before blaming the browser. With a ProxyHive IP:

Several IPs: Bulk Add and one IP per profile

The Proxy Manager holds your saved IPs. To add many at once, click Bulk Add and paste one per line. The bulk form needs the protocol on every line:

socks5://HOST:PORT:USERNAME:PASSWORD
socks5://USERNAME:PASSWORD@HOST:PORT

Set a name prefix and Octo names them "prefix #1", "prefix #2" and so on; leave it empty and they get random names. A line in the wrong format is marked ERROR.

Then assign one static IP per profile, kept for the life of the account. The Proxy Manager's profiles column shows how many profiles use each IP, which makes a shared IP easy to spot. Close a profile before you change its proxy: edits apply on the next start. What an ISP proxy is explains why a fixed carrier address suits long-lived accounts.

Troubleshooting

  • "Failed to establish a connection" or "Failed to retrieve connection data": run the curl line above. If curl fails too, check host, port and credentials. If curl works, Octo's checker is the problem.
  • Unavailable on a working proxy. Octo's docs say some internet providers block its checker; try another network. The check times out after 5 seconds by default.
  • Gray status. The proxy has not been checked, or not in the last 5 minutes.
  • Flag shows an unexpected country. Geo databases disagree. Octo picked one for compatibility with Google services; set language and timezone by hand if needed.
  • Wrong protocol. A SOCKS5 port entered as HTTP fails. Match them.
